What's The Point Of Living - Things You Should Know

Let talk about affirmations. What's The Point Of Living I think nearly everyone has heard of the concept of affirmations. When I bring up the topic at social gatherings I get one of three responses the majority of the time. One, they scoff at the idea and pretty much closed off to the idea that something like that could work. Two, they have tried using them but obviously never had great success with them. Finally you meet those who have unlocked the power of affirmations and use them everyday in every way. I want to focus on those who have seen the light but have not found the success.

Affirmations, what is the point of doing affirmations? Let us start by what I learned in developmental psychology. There was an interesting fact I learned about overcoming negative messages. That would be all those messages we receive that tear us down, make us doubt ourselves and place negative self images of ourselves into our minds. I learned that we have to hear 10 positive messages to overcome each negative. That is staggering if we think about it. That means every time a classmate, parent, teacher or anyone else in our life fed us a negative message, we needed to hear 10 positive messages to make up for it. Unfortunately this did not happen to all of us. So as adults, we carry luggage that holds us back.

We hear these messages in our speech, if we listen. I hear them all the time. The excuses and reasons why someone can not or will not do something. The acceptance of being "not that type of person." This is where affirmations come in. They allow us to replace those messages with those we want to hear and need to hear in order to better ourselves and to better our lives. But remember, there is a lot of competition with the affirmations you come up with and the messages we hear around us. So those affirmations have to be heard and felt often and those affirmations have to be powerful in their message.
